Ludwik Kotecki is a graduate of the Warsaw School of Economics. He began his career at the Ministry of Finance, where he worked for over 20 years, holding managerial positions since 2000, including the position of Chief Economist. From 2003 to 2015, he was a deputy and later a full member of the Economic and Financial Committee of the EU Council in Brussels. Between 2008 and 2012, he served as Undersecretary of State, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Finance, and Government Plenipotentiary for Euro Introduction in Poland. From 2012 to 2015, he was a Polish Financial Supervision Authority member and Chair of the Bank Guarantee Fund Board. From 2015 to 2016, he served as Executive Director at the International Monetary Fund in Washington, representing Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Poland, Serbia, Switzerland, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan on the IMF Board. From 2017 to 2021, he worked as an economic consultant and advisor to various national and international institutions. He is a pioneer of green finance in Poland; he was the president and director of the Institute of Responsible Finance, an expert at the Center for Strategic Thought, and the European Financial Congress. Before being appointed to the Monetary Policy Council, he served as economic advisor to the Speaker of the Polish Senate. He is a member of Team Europe in Poland, a group of experts providing information on the functioning and policies of the European Union. From 2017 to 2022, he was also Chief Economist of Caritas Poland and a Pro Caritate Foundation board member. On January 12, 2022, the Senate of the Republic of Poland appointed Ludwik Kotecki to the Monetary Policy Council.
