
Prof. Hieronim Grala
Historian, Researcher of the History of Ruthenia, Diplomat

He served as the First Counsellor at the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in the Russian Federation, the Director of the Polish Institute in St. Petersburg (2000—2005), and the Director of the Polish Institute in Moscow (2005—2009). He is a lecturer at the Faculty of “Artes Liberales” at the University of Warsaw. His research interests include the history of early modern Ruthenia and Russia, the history of Byzantium, the history of St. Petersburg and its Polish community, and the editing of historical sources. He was a Professor at the Academy of Economics and Law in Moscow from 2012 to 2022 and has been an Honorary Academician of the Academy of Journalism of Kazakhstan since 2015.
