A political scientist, sinologist, diplomat, and publicist. From 2003 to 2008, he served as the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to the Kingdom of Thailand, the Republic of the Philippines, and the Union of Myanmar (formerly Burma). Previously, from 1991 to 1998, he was on a diplomatic mission in Hungary. He also served as the Head of the Cabinet of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland. From 2016 to 2020, he was the Director of the Centre for Europe at the University of Warsaw, where he is a faculty member. His specialization includes contemporary international relations, particularly globalization and global challenges, China, East and Southeast Asia in the international arena, the EU’s international position and European integration, and Hungarian issues. He is the author of many books, with recent publications including Złota Ziemia roni łzy. Esej birmański (The Golden Land Sheds Tears: A Burmese Essay), Wielki Renesans. He has authored dozens of academic papers and has lectured at numerous universities and research institutes worldwide.
